John and Rosaleen didn’t really know each other until I asked them to be part of my series. I wanted to bring them together because I used to play with both of their fathers when I was young. John’s dad and I played together in the Glenside Ceili Band (All Ireland winners in 1966) and Rosaleen’s dad was a neighbour of my mother’s who I used to visit on my regular boyhood trips to Sligo. I learned a lot of music from those two gentlemen so it was a lovely experience for me to be able to bring John and Rosaleen together for a night’s music and chat. Thanks for watching.
